Learning Specialist
Seton Catholic Middle School has a learning specialist on staff. Her responsibility is to ensure that each student receives the educational assistance necessary to achieve to the best of his or her ability. Using differentiated instruction strategies, the learning specialist helps to create situations in which individuals can learn best. She works both with classroom teachers to develop alternative approaches to instruction and works with individual students using modified lesson plans and assessment tools, supplementary materials and new learning strategies.
Students are referred by agreement among the family, teachers and administration, and may work with the learning specialist in one or multiple academic areas.
Seton Library
The Seton library is staffed at all times by either the librarian or a parent volunteer. It is open to students, teachers, and parents on a regularly scheduled, daily basis. The library can remain open later than 3:15 if students need to use it. Students may have three books checked out at one time. Books are checked out for a two - week period and are always due on a Friday. There is a fine of $.25 per book for each week that it is overdue.
Technology
Seton Catholic Middle School utilizes two mobile laptop labs and has wireless networking throughout the building, allowing any teacher and class access to networked computers without leaving the classroom. In addition, each wing of the school is outfitted wtih an interactive SMART board, overhead projector and an automated response system.
