Welcome to Seton Catholic Middle School!
My name is Monica Bausom, and I have been the principal of Seton Catholic Middle School for nineteen years. I am pleased to welcome you to our website, and I encourage you to look around and to get to know our community, which is firmly rooted in faith and education.
Seton Catholic Middle School was formed in 1989 to meet the educational, social and spiritual challenges and opportunities that are unique to middle school students. Seton promotes Christian values, excellence in education and the growth of the total person. In the years since the school was established, we have continued to promote a strong academic atmosphere that is centered in our Catholic faith, with a philosophy and approach that focus on fostering teamwork, respect for and acceptance of self and others, interpersonal skills, conflict management, critical thinking and problem solving, as well as community service.
Seton is first and foremost a Catholic-Christian school. A weekly prayer service or liturgy, daily prayer, retreats and service are integral to the Seton experience. Instructors certified by the Diocese of Green Bay teach all religion courses, and the curriculum is designed by our campus minister/guidance counselor.
Our STAR program, recognized in 2009 as a 'Promising Practice' by the State of Wisconsin Character Coalition, creates small core groups, under the guidance of mentor-teachers, in which students explore and put into practice scripture-based positive character traits such as respect, compassion, justice, unity, self-control, patience, kindness and integrity. These core values permeate every school day.
At Seton, we are committed to adhering to proven educational philosophies and techniques, while simultaneously embracing new innovations in education, assessment and technology. This approach gives our students a strong foundation in core subjects, nurtures excellence in education and inspires an enthusiasm for learning about our world. Further academic and co-curricular opportunities nurture students' passion for visual and performing arts, athletics, world languages and science and technology.
Seton's student/teacher ratio of 18 to 1 allows our experienced and talented teachers to encourage, strengthen and guide students as they develop into young adults. Computer-based academic assessments are administered twice a year and provide up-to-date information about individual students' success as well as classroom trends, allowing teachers to fine-tune their lesson plans as needed. We also have a learning specialist on staff who assists students who are struggling.
In addition to our permanent computer lab, we have two portable laptop labs that can be moved from one room to another, providing wireless access in any classroom. Technology suites including SMART boards, projectors and interactive response systems are also available in each wing of the building.
Finally, I am very proud of Seton's faculty and staff, who display selfless dedication and professionalism each and every day. These fantastic people, along with our wonderful students and their supportive families form a school community that is truly a family in faith.
