SMC Building the Future, Grounded in Tradition
St. Mary Central is committed to giving every student the best possible start to his or her future. As such, we are in the process of instituting a 1:1 laptop program that will revolutionize how SMC students learn. This innovation is being adopted with a forward-looking, yet wise approach. During the 2009-10 school year, teachers are learning how to incorporate the use of this technology into their everyday classroom presentations and activities; enhancing, not replacing, proven educational strategies. In 2010-11 the program will expand so that every SMC students will have a laptop computer for classroom and home use.
Even as we look to the future in terms of technology and education innovation, the St. Mary Central community remains firmly rooted in the tenets and teachings of the Catholic faith, in service and the rigors of a well-rounded academic curriculum. Numerous sacramental and faith building opportunities are shared with SMC students, and participation in Key Club and other volunteer and service activities is very strong.
