St. Margaret Mary Parent Involvement
St. Margaret Mary School has a very active and supportive parent and staff organization known as FACES (Faith and Community Enriching St. Margaret Mary School). The organization is an advisory body, which promotes the spiritual, educational and physical welfare of the children of St. Margaret Mary Catholic School. It is the aim of the organization to bring into closer relationship the HOME, the CHURCH and the SCHOOL. The activities of FACES should be an example of the Christian community life.
FACES has monthly meeting opened to all. The organization provides volunteers to staff the numerous committees that help make the school an inviting educational and spiritual community. One of the major committees is Enrichment. Each year, a particular area of the curriculum is highlighted and the parents and staff work toward providing interesting experiences that will help students gain better insights into the curricular area. During the school year 2004-2005, our Enrichment program is called Math Mania. The aim is to help children understand Math in the real world. Numerous fun and academic events are planned.
Other committees include: Book Fair, Family Reading Night, Decorating, Hospitality, Homestead Meadow Fall Event, Library Assistants, Lunchroom Helpers, Christmas Project, Bowling or Sledding or Skating Events, Yearbook, etc. There is something for every interest. The main fundraiser of the year is "Wines Around the World". This is an off-site adult evening of wine tasting and canapés. It provides the financial support to equip our school with many of the "extras" that make the curriculum come alive for our children.
Every day finds our parents serving in many capacities in the school. You will see them in the Teacher/Parent Workroom preparing class materials. You will find them in the office helping to stuff the weekly envelopes that go home to our families. You will find them in the classrooms, especially in the preschool and Kindergarten. We are grateful for the involvement of our families in the education of our children.
