St. Mary Elementary Parent Involvement
St. Mary School has a very active and supportive parent and staff organization known as POPS (Parents Offering Positive Support). The organization is an advisory body, which promotes the spiritual, educational and physical welfare of the children of St. Mary School. It is the aim of the organization to bring into closer relationship the HOME, the CHURCH and the SCHOOL. The activities of POPS should be an example of the Christian community life.
POPS has monthly meeting open to all. The organization provides volunteers to staff the numerous committees that help make the school an inviting educational and spiritual community.
Other activities directed by POPS include: Book Fair, Decorating, Hospitality, Halloween Party, Roller Skating Party, Library Assistants, Lunchroom Helpers, Popcorn Fridays, etc. There is something for every interest! The main fundraiser of the year is "Winter Escape.² This is an off-site adult evening of food and fun. It provides the financial support to equip our school with many of the "extras" that make the curriculum come alive for our children.
Every day finds our parents serving in many capacities in the school. You will see them assisting in preparing class materials. You will find them in the office helping to stuff the weekly envelopes that go home to our families. You will find them in the classrooms, especially in the preschool and Kindergarten. We are grateful for the involvement of our families in the education of our children.
