TCCES Guidance

Twin City Catholic Educational System believes in nurturing the emotional and psychological health of every student. Therefore, guidance professionals serve TCCES families at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

At the elementary level, Mrs. Jennifer Whiting makes regular visits to each TCCES school, providing both classroom guidance curriculum and individual sessions for students and families in need of assistance. Anti-bullying and self esteem programs are an important part of her presence.

Mrs. Mary Lou Kalaus is both Seton's campus minister and the guidance counselor, a combination of professional skills that is a perfect fit for the Seton community. Mrs. Kalaus is responsible for overseeing the religion curriculum and faith formation opportunities at Seton, as well as acting as a counselor in working with students in both group and individual settings.

The SMC department consists of a guidance counselor, Mrs. Cindy Nelson, and an assistant, Mrs. Diane Pagel. The counselor works collaboratively with administration, teachers and staff, taking a problem-solving approach to issues that affect student progress at the high school level.

Every SMC student is required to participate in a joint meeting with guidance personnel and his or her parents or guardians at least one time each year. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that every student is experiencing intellectual and social growth, as well as to develop a course selection strategy that will help the student achieve his or her goals.

A particular focus of the guidance department is preparing students to make well-informed choices regarding their life after graduation.

All TCCES guidance personnel welcome questions or concerns from parents, students, and teachers. Students are encouraged to meet with them as needed. Individual parent/teacher conferences may be arranged by calling the schoolsí offices. All TCCES guidance programs are aligned with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's standards.
