Board of Education
When the Twin City Catholic Educational System (TCCES) was formed, a board of education was formed to oversee the consolidation and to foster a sense of unity among the schools and parishes. To avoid undue turmoil during this transition, St. Mary Central High School (SMC) maintained an independent governing board, which continued to operate fully until 2006.
At a diocesan corporate meeting in April of 2006, it was determined that the time was right to move toward full unification of the system, thereby eliminating the need for two separate governing bodies. This recommendation, which was jointly developed by diocesan representatives, the pastors of all five Neenah-Menasha parishes and members of both the TCCES and SMC boards, was considered and quickly approved by both boards of directors.
In July of 2006, the two boards of directors merged into a single governing body, now known as the TCCES/SMC Board of Education. The TCCES board is composed of all of the pastors from the Neenah-Menasha parishes, a person from each parish appointed by the pastor, five at-large members selected by the board, and three representatives from the former SMC board. Terms of service are either two or three years long, with a maximum of six consecutive years. The board meets on the third Wednesday of every month, except July.
The board, along with our administrators, has continued to advance the goals and vision of our strategic plan, TCCES: Planning Our Future. Through this important effort, led by Mike Sullivan, we have made great progress toward our mission of providing a faith-based, exceptional education experience for all of our children.
We continue to work with our administrators to control expenses while setting realistic revenue targets. Fundraising efforts throughout the system continue to be vital as we strive to limit tuition increases and dependency upon our parishes' financial support. Zephyrfest revenue again reached a new high, and Jumbo Gumbo continues to grow as a system wide fundraiser. These efforts could not be successful without the dedicated efforts of our staff members and our many generous volunteers and donors.
Through the efforts of our advancement team, we have continued to build enrollment throughout our system. The board, along with our administrators and staff members, continues to work through our strategic plan initiative toward our vision of all TCCES schools being our community's schools of choice.
Once a year, a corporate board comprised of several members of the Board of Education and a diocesan represntative meets to review progress and to set goals for the upcoming year. This year's corporate board's goals can be viewed here.
