Introduction
Creating a Long Range Strategic Plan for the future of the Twin City Catholic Education System began in April of 2006 and was given the name "Planning Our Future."
"Planning Our Future" is the culmination of months of work by the Task Force, Board, Faculty and interested parents and parishioners of the TCCES who worked diligently to design this new comprehensive plan for the system. This is a guide for not only the decision-makers of the system, but for every parent and Catholic stakeholder to take ownership in the future of this Catholic educational system. Because this plan was created through the inclusion and collaboration of all, it is truly a Strategic Plan of ownership, commitment and faith in TCCES. This plan will guide TCCES over the next three to five years as we strengthen our many assets as a system of Catholic schools.
Development of Plan
Creating this Strategic Plan required the efforts of many as we navigated our way through the following stages in developing the plan:
- A Task Force was established to guide the process
- A series of Data Gathering Sessions were conducted to gather initial data
- The data collected in the Data Gathering Sessions was used to create Planning Areas, which is the foundation of the Strategic Plan
- A Planning Team was formed, which met on five different occasions
- Strengths, weaknesses, and threats were identified, challenges and solutions were also given
- Faculty and staff met and identified strengths, weaknesses, and threats and identified challenges and solutions
- The Task Force identified major challenges
- The TCCES Board then met and identified the Major Challenges
- The Executive Committee of the TCCES Board of Education met to create the Executive Summary of the Plan.
- The TCCES Board of Education adopted TCCES: Planning Our Future.
Overall Challenges
The Strategic Plan expresses the collective vision of what the needs are and challenges that the system should address now and in the future. The central theme of "Planning Our Future" must be the continued inclusion of ALL within the framework of an organizational structure that coordinates with the recommendations of the Diocese of Green Bay.
TCCES possesses many exciting opportunities for its future. The economic, educational, and social forces, together with circumstances of history, personnel, and geography pose many challenges in planning for the growth and development of this Catholic educational system.
Planning Areas
Specific areas of concern continuously surfaced during the initial phases of data gathering. Planning Areas were then created based upon this data. The following areas emerged as the most significant planning areas:
- System wide accountability standards including academic accountability for teachers and staff
- Standardization of PreK to 12 curriculum
- Invest in our teaching community
- Identify additional Catholic community resources for faith development
- Establish, promote and invest in our identity in the marketplace
- Maximize facility usage
- Develop mechanisms to gather, disseminate and respond to customer feedback
- Continue to stabilize TCCES finances
Implementation
The implementation of TCCES: Planning Our Future began in earnest this fall. The TCCES Board is concurrently working on all planning areas to meet the established timelines. A considerable amount of progress has already been accomplished in system wide accountability, standardized curriculum, Catholic identity and marketing. The full strategic plan will be published in December 2007. Planning Updates will be published at the end of each semester on the TCCES website. In addition, TCCES: Planning Our Future will be discussed in detail at the TCCES State of the Schools presentations in January, 2008.
